Ogun-Ondo border: CP Ojajuni leads security chiefs on assessment tour, show of force

Ogun State Police Conduct Joint Security Assessment Along Border

The Ogun State Police Command, in partnership with various security agencies and government stakeholders, has undertaken a thorough operational assessment along the Ogun–Ondo border, encompassing communities from Itele-Ijebu to the state line with Ondo.

This initiative aims to enhance security measures along the Ogun–Ondo border corridor, particularly focusing on the Ogun Waterside regions, including Iwopin, Abigi, and Ibiade. The operation is designed to build on the successes of “Operation Kosaye” and to reinforce ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.

In a statement released on Sunday, police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi emphasized that the operation was intended to reassure local residents, commuters, and road users about the readiness of security agencies to safeguard lives. He noted the importance of maintaining security presence in the area and responding to emerging challenges.

Babaseyi quoted Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, who praised the collaborative efforts displayed by participating agencies, government officials, and community stakeholders.

The Commissioner urged the public to remain alert and to provide timely and credible information to law enforcement, stressing that effective security relies on strong community-police partnerships.

The assessment encompassed the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway, covering key points from Ijebu Ode through J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin, and Abigi to the boundary community of Ajebandele, where security conditions were evaluated.

This evaluation not only enhanced coordination among agencies but also aimed at improving intelligence gathering and community engagement in crime prevention efforts. It underscored the commitment to maintaining security dominance along the Ogun–Ondo corridor through ongoing, coordinated monitoring.

Commissioner Ojajuni reaffirmed the police department’s dedication to sustaining joint operations, enhancing intelligence sharing, utilizing modern policing technologies, and fostering community involvement to bolster public safety across Ogun State.

The joint assessment was attended by key security figures including Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, CP Edward Ajogun (retd); Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General J.O. Onu; DSS Director, R.A. Adelakun; and NSCDC State Commander, Remilekun Ekundayo, among others, including local government chairpersons from Ijebu East, Ijebu North East, and Ogun Waterside.
