Former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff has accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), of attempting to divide the nation.
Sheriff made the claims during an interview on the Channels Television program “Politics Today” on Monday. His comments followed Obi’s recent call for President Bola Tinubu to resign, citing the ongoing security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.
“Peter Obi, up to this moment, is pursuing the division of Nigeria because he believes in Biafra,” Sheriff stated. He further criticized Obi for not condemning separatist groups such as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), asserting that Obi’s stance suggests a desire to divide the country.
Sheriff emphasized that anyone seeking to lead Nigeria should prioritize national unity rather than sectional interests.
