2026 World Cup: Brazil take decision on sacking Ancelotti after elimination
Brazil Retains Carlo Ancelotti as Head Coach Following World Cup Exit
Brazil has confirmed its decision to retain Carlo Ancelotti as head coach, despite the national team’s unexpected exit from the 2026 World Cup. The Selecao suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat to Norway in the tournament’s Round of 16 on Sunday, prolonging their quest for a sixth championship title.
Rodrigo Caetano, the national team coordinator, stated that Ancelotti could lead the team through to the next World Cup in 2030. “It is now up to us to emphasize the need for a cycle that proceeds normally, with a little more calmness; continuing our work with the coach while making the necessary adjustments,” Caetano said.
He added that the team should aim for a “minimum of tranquility” as they work towards future competitions.
