Kano State High Court Begins Murder Trial of Local Man
The Kano State High Court No. 15 has officially started the trial of Ali Sulaiman Adam, known as Gadon Ƙaya, who faces allegations in connection with the murder of his wife, Maryam Nababa Badamasi.
The charges, filed by the Kano State government, accuse Adam of killing Badamasi and subsequently setting fire to the room where her body was discovered.
During the court proceedings, Adam pleaded not guilty to all charges. His attorney, Lamido Soron, requested additional time to prepare the defense and applied for bail on behalf of his client.
The presiding judge has adjourned the case, with a ruling on the bail application scheduled for July 27.
Following the court session, the state’s prosecuting counsel stated that the prosecution is ready to present its witnesses when the trial resumes.
