Thunderstorm Claims Lives of Six Children in Adamawa State
DADIRI TIRGALI, Adamawa State — A thunderstorm has reportedly struck Dadiri Tirgali village in the Ganye Local Government Area, resulting in the tragic deaths of six children. Two others sustained injuries during the incident, which occurred Sunday afternoon.
The minors were struck by lightning while working in a nearby farm. They were among a group of approximately eight children engaged in agricultural activities at the time of the storm.
Those injured have been transported to a local clinic for medical treatment.
Christopher Nathaniel, the Adamawa State governorship candidate for the Social Democratic Party, expressed his condolences following the incident. “The loss of innocent young lives has thrown the entire Ganye Chiefdom and Adamawa State into mourning,” he said in a statement. “On behalf of myself, my family, and the great people of the SDP, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the residents of Dadiri Tirgali, His Royal Majesty, the Gangwari Ganye, and all the people of Ganye Local Government Area.”
Ganye is known as the food basket of Adamawa State, recognized for its significant agricultural output, particularly in crops such as yam tubers.
