TCN restores electricity to Karu, Keffi, Akwanga after transmission towers collapse

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the restoration of electricity supply to the Karu–Keffi–Akwanga Transmission Line following the repair of three collapsed towers. The company confirmed in a statement Wednesday that power was restored at approximately 5:31 p.m.

With the restoration of service, TCN also re-established electricity supply to the 132/33kV Keffi and Akwanga Transmission Stations.

“TCN remains committed to maintaining and strengthening its transmission infrastructure to ensure the reliable and efficient transmission of bulk electricity across the country,” the statement read.

This restoration follows the collapse of the three transmission towers on October 7, 2026, due to severe weather conditions that included heavy rainfall and strong winds, according to reports from DAILY POST.
