Preseason: Chelsea lose 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in friendly
Tottenham Edges Chelsea in Preseason Friendly
LONDON — Tottenham Hotspur secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Chelsea in a preseason friendly on Saturday, thanks to a late goal from forward Richarlison.
Sandro Tonali opened the scoring for Tottenham with his first goal since joining the club, capitalizing on a loose ball in the box. However, Chelsea quickly equalized through Estevao, whose header crossed the goal line shortly after Tonali’s strike.
The match turned contentious when Tottenham’s Kevin Danso received a red card just three minutes after being substituted into the game, leaving his team with 10 players. Despite this numerical advantage, Chelsea was unable to convert the opportunity into a decisive lead.
In the closing moments, Richarlison found the net, tapping in after a shot from teammate Donley rebounded off the post. With this late winner, Tottenham clinched the match, signaling a promising start to their preseason preparations.
