Real Betis Secures 3-1 Victory Over Arsenal in Pre-Season Friendly
LONDON — Real Betis defeated Arsenal 3-1 in a pre-season friendly match Wednesday night.
The Premier League champions started the match strongly, with Viktor Gyokeres nearly scoring in the opening minutes. However, it was Real Betis that struck first, capitalizing on an error by Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Rodigo Riquelme found the net after seizing the opportunity.
Nelson Deossa extended Betis’s lead before Arsenal responded. Piero Hincapie netted a goal for the Gunners, briefly narrowing the margin. Just before halftime, Pablo Fornals restored Betis’s two-goal advantage by placing a shot in the bottom corner.
Arsenal is scheduled to play against Borussia Dortmund this weekend in the Emirates Cup.
