Osun State Police Arrest 10 Suspects in Connection with Violent Crimes
The Osun State Police Command has apprehended ten individuals suspected of involvement in violent crimes in Modakeke, located in the Ife East Local Government Area. The arrests are linked to a reported invasion of the Osun State Polytechnic in Iree.
Four suspects—Olufemi Olatunji, 39; Ajayi Idowu, 31; Akingbala Oluwakemi, 40; and Adekunle Basirat, 40—were taken into custody in Modakeke at approximately 2 a.m. on August 9, 2026. This followed a petition directed to the Commissioner of Police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Abiodun Ojelabi, the command’s Public Relations Officer, released details of the arrests in a statement on Wednesday.
The police reported that searches conducted at the suspects’ residences resulted in the recovery of two firearms: a locally manufactured cut-to-size gun and a pump-action shotgun. The cut-to-size firearm was found at Basirat’s shop, while the pump-action gun was retrieved from Oluwakemi’s home.
Basirat has been identified as the spouse of Solomon Akinlabi, also known as “Indomine,” while Oluwakemi is the wife of Akingbala Akindele, referred to as “Ostand.”
In a separate operation, members of the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested six individuals suspected of affiliation with an unlawful society during an incident involving armed individuals at the Osun State Polytechnic in Iree. This event reportedly injured two students.
The arrested suspects are Ajoba Akorede, 27; Adam Oseni, 27; Ogunrinde Ayomide, 21; Ogunlana Muheez, 26; Ajose Noah, 25; and Adeniyi Damola, 25. During questioning, Akorede and Oseni admitted to their association with the Aye confraternity. However, law enforcement has yet to determine if they are students at the institution.
The police stated that investigations into both cases are ongoing and confirmed that the suspects will be prosecuted upon completion of the investigations.
