Customs Official Urges Kwara Command to Uphold Professional Standards
ILORIN, Kwara State — Nsikan Patrick Umoh, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs and Zonal Coordinator for Zone ‘B’, has urged officers of the Kwara State command to maintain a high level of professionalism in their duties.
Umoh made the remarks during an oversight visit to the command’s headquarters in Ilorin, part of her ongoing tour of operational commands within Zone ‘B’.
While addressing the officers and staff, she highlighted that her headquarters had not received any adverse reports concerning the Kwara Area Command since she took office. This record, she stated, is indicative of the professionalism and integrity exemplified in the command’s operations.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Umoh encouraged personnel to conduct themselves responsibly both on and off duty. She cautioned against involvement in illicit activities, including drug trafficking, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the core values of the service.
Umoh also called for unity among the officers, likening them to a family working towards common goals. She assured them of ongoing support from both the Zonal and Service Headquarters.
In his welcome address, Acting Area Controller Deputy Comptroller N.A. Ogundeyi outlined the key achievements and operational milestones the Command has accomplished under his leadership.
During her visit, the Zonal Coordinator engaged in an interactive session with key stakeholders, including leaders from freight forwarding associations, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), and representatives from major excise factories such as ITC and SANICA.
Umoh praised the positive relationship between the Command and the trading community, addressing concerns related to cargo clearance processes and regional trade competitiveness. Her detailed responses were well received by the trade representatives.
The visit concluded with a tour of the command’s administrative offices, warehouse, and residential barracks, where Umoh expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness, order, and discipline observed throughout the facilities.
