Police chase suspects, recover two pistols, Vikings caps in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has recovered two locally made pistols and three caps associated with the Vikings Confraternity from an abandoned motorcycle in the Awka North Local Government Area.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the command, reported that the items were found during a routine patrol by the Violent Crime Response Unit on Thursday along the Isuaniocha Bridge.

According to Ikenga, officers observed two young men riding a black Sanyang motorcycle that lacked a registration number. Upon noticing the police team, the riders made a sudden turn in an apparent attempt to flee, prompting a pursuit by the officers.

“The Anambra State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough during this patrol operation with the Violent Crime Response Unit,” Ikenga’s statement said. “During the chase, the suspects lost control of the motorcycle and fell, abandoning it along with two slippers and a bag before escaping into nearby foliage.”

A subsequent search of the abandoned bag yielded the recovery of two fabricated pistols and three caps with inscriptions linked to the secret cult.

Ikenga noted that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and determine their identities and affiliations, as well as the circumstances surrounding the possession of the recovered items.
