Taraba Governor Reaffirms Commitment to State Security

JALINGO, Nigeria — Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing security across the state, emphasizing its pivotal role in fostering peace, sustainable development, and economic prosperity.

Governor Kefas made this statement Tuesday during a meeting with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 10 Division of the Nigerian Army at the T.Y. Danjuma House. The discussion focused on bolstering the strategic partnership between the Taraba State Government and military authorities, particularly in addressing security challenges and maintaining peace.

During the meeting, the governor underscored his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in Taraba, acknowledging that a secure environment is crucial for attracting investment and fostering economic activity, which ultimately benefits residents.

In a show of support for the newly established 10 Division, Kefas announced that the state government has provided temporary accommodations for its personnel while the construction of permanent barracks is underway on the outskirts of Jalingo. He explained that this initiative aims to facilitate effective operations for the division during the construction phase.

Kefas assured military leaders of ongoing cooperation and support from the state government, reinforcing his commitment to creating an environment conducive to the division’s effective functioning. He highlighted that security continues to be a central element of his administration’s development agenda, noting that peace and stability are vital for economic growth in Taraba and the broader North-East region.

“The establishment of the 10 Division is expected to strengthen the security architecture of Taraba State and enhance the capacity of security agencies to respond promptly to emerging threats,” Kefas stated.
