ZAMFARA, Nigeria — Troops from Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully thwarted an attempted abduction and rescued 14 individuals who had been kidnapped in the Tsafe Local Government Area.
The operation took place Tuesday afternoon near Magazu Village, prompted by credible intelligence regarding the movement of armed assailants in the region.
Security analyst Bakatsine reported on X, a social media platform, that the troops engaged the attackers, compelling them to abandon their vehicle and retreat into the surrounding vegetation. Following this encounter, a search operation was conducted, resulting in the rescue of the 14 victims.
One of the rescued individuals suffered gunshot wounds during the incident and was subsequently transported to General Hospital in Tsafe for medical attention. Fortunately, no security personnel were reported injured throughout the course of the operation.
The swift and decisive action by the troops not only prevented the planned abduction but also ensured the safe return of the victims.
In a statement, Bakatsine praised the troops for their rapid response and professionalism, noting that their actions had a significant impact on saving lives.
