Troops launch search operation as suspected gunmen abduct man in Plateau
Search and Rescue Operation Underway Following Abduction in Plateau State
Troops from Sector 3 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have initiated a search and rescue operation following the abduction of a man in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victim, identified as Mr. Ndubisi Onuigbo, was reportedly kidnapped on the night of August 24, 2026, in Angwan Kaji Village. The incident was highlighted in a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Wednesday.
According to Makama, Onuigbo was ambushed by unidentified gunmen at approximately 8:21 p.m. as he approached the entrance to his home. Troops responded promptly to a distress call and subsequently confirmed that the man had been taken.
“Troops, along with personnel from other security agencies, immediately began searching the surrounding area to locate the victim and identify the abductors,” Makama stated.
Despite the ongoing efforts, the initial search did not establish contact with the kidnappers. Security forces continue to pursue leads to trace the abduction and bring the victim to safety.
Makama noted that surveillance and intelligence operations are also active in the area as the search effort proceeds.
