Streaming industry in Nigeria will soon collapse – Phyna claims

Former Reality Star Predicts Streaming Industry Collapse in Nigeria

Former reality television star turned streamer Phyna has expressed concerns regarding the sustainability of Nigeria’s burgeoning streaming industry, suggesting that it may soon experience a decline.

During a recent livestream with fellow streamer Jeffrey Benson, Phyna noted that the current environment favors content that prioritizes quick virality over substantial themes and impact. She identifies a trend where many streamers engage in “clip farming,” focusing on sensationalism rather than meaningful content.

Phyna observed that this trend has led some streamers to resort to stunts and dishonesty to attract attention and increase viewership. Reflecting on her own journey, she admitted to initially adopting a more outrageous persona but chose to tone it down as she felt unable to maintain the same level of energy as some of her male counterparts.

“Streaming in Nigeria will soon collapse because Nigerians push streamers who clip farm, go crazy, and tell lies just to entertain streams,” she said. “I was crazy when I started, but I decided to chill because I am a lady and I can’t keep up with that.”

In her statements, Phyna urged her fellow content creators to focus on producing meaningful content rather than simply seeking viral fame.
