‘I’ll control a man if I’m richer than him’ – Ayra Starr

Singer Ayra Starr recently addressed the topic of financial disparity in romantic relationships during an episode of the podcast Wahala. The artist, known for her hit song “Bloody Samaritan,” expressed her views on the power dynamics that can arise when one partner earns significantly more than the other.

Starr stated that if she were to date a man with lower financial means, she would feel inclined to take a controlling role in the relationship. Despite her wealth, she maintained that the man should still have the responsibility to provide for the partnership.

“I will control him if I date a man who I am richer than. But even if I am richer, he will still be providing, and I won’t let him know I have a lot of money,” she said.

Her comments elicited a variety of reactions from listeners. Some supported her perspective, asserting that it is traditionally a man’s role to provide. Others criticized her approach, particularly her intention to conceal her financial status from a potential partner.
