‘I will destroy you’ – El-Rufai’s son, Bashir publicly threatens elder brother, Bello

Bashir El-Rufai, the younger brother of Kaduna North Federal Representative Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has once again escalated a public feud with his sibling, threatening to “destroy” him in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

In a message shared on Saturday, Bashir accused his brother of drug abuse and hinted that the ongoing dispute may be linked to Bello’s political decisions in Kaduna State. The tension between the two has not yet been fully clarified.

Bashir’s comment included a stark declaration: “I will destroy you & climb my bed and sleep peacefully.” This statement has drawn reaction from members of the political community, including Uche Rochas, who cautioned Bashir against making such threats. Rochas responded in the comment section, saying, “If you destroy your brother, no one will see you as a hero. The more you try to destroy him, the more you destroy yourself and drag your family’s name through the mud. If you need someone to talk to, I am here.”

Bashir acknowledged Rochas’s concern, stating, “Sorry sir. Had to be said.”

In another comment, Dr. Ibrahim Yaji criticized Bashir’s remarks, expressing disbelief that one could threaten a relative in such a manner, regardless of the circumstances. He stated, “I kept telling my friend earlier that the joke is on Bashir. I can never trust anybody who can do this to his own blood. Even if my sibling kills my child, I won’t destroy him like this.”

Bashir dismissed Yaji’s comment, suggesting a difference in their familial experiences: “That’s you o. And I’m sure you had a good brother.”

The ongoing conflict has raised questions about family dynamics and political rivalries within the El-Rufai family, a prominent name in Kaduna politics.
