EPL: Carrick blames Man Utd players for 2-2 draw at Everton
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick criticized his team’s decision-making following a 2-2 draw against Everton on Sunday, marking the Red Devils’ continued struggle to secure an away victory in the Premier League this season.
United appeared poised for three points after taking an initial lead through Bryan Mbeumo, but the match shifted when Tyrique George equalized for Everton. Late in the game, Benjamin Sesko scored what seemed to be a winning goal for United, until Ainsley Maitland-Niles struck from distance to level the score in the final moments.
In a post-match interview with NBC, Carrick acknowledged positive aspects of his team’s performance. “There were a lot of good things in the game for us. We played some really good football and were dangerous at times,” he said. He noted, however, that lapses in judgment contributed to the unfavorable result. “We defended well as a team for the most part, but as the game progressed, our decisions became more difficult and ultimately costly. We’re disappointed we didn’t come away with a win.”
When asked to elaborate on the specific mistakes made, Carrick opted not to disclose details, stating, “I’ll keep them to myself a little bit, but we should’ve seen the game out really, so we’re disappointed with that.”
