Presidential Candidate Adebayo Acknowledges Challenges of Tinubu Administration
Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has expressed his awareness of the deficiencies within President Bola Tinubu’s administration. However, he stated that he would refrain from placing blame on the incumbent if he were to assume the presidency in 2027.
In a recent interview on TVC’s Politics On Sunday, Adebayo emphasized that any successor must acknowledge both the accomplishments and the challenges inherited from the previous administration.
“When I become president, by God’s grace, I will not blame President Tinubu. Once I take the oath of office, I am inheriting everything that the president before me has done,” Adebayo said.
He explained that assuming control of the nation’s infrastructure and institutions inherently includes taking on the complications left by his predecessor. “If I’m going to enter a state house that wasn’t built by me, drive on a road that wasn’t constructed by me, and attend university convocations that were not established by me, it signifies that the preceding administration left assets and potentially some liabilities,” he noted.
Adebayo acknowledged the current state of Nigeria’s economy and its broader challenges, affirming his intent to run for the presidency. “I know the perilous state of the economy. I know the troubled state of affairs in Nigeria,” he remarked.
He further asserted his understanding of the Tinubu administration’s missteps. “I know 99% of what President Tinubu is doing wrong. I am aware of these issues and remain committed to my presidential campaign,” Adebayo stated.
His proposed approach to governance, he explained, would prioritize continuity over assigning blame to his predecessor. “I won’t enter office and start blaming him afterward. I understand the issues with the government, and there is a system of handover. This ensures continuity in government,” he added.
