APC-PCC accuses Atiku of using AI to discredit Kaduna campaign flag-off

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of attempting to undermine the party’s presidential campaign event scheduled for today in Kaduna.

In a statement released Saturday, APC-PCC spokesperson Dele Alake outlined allegations that Abubakar and the ADC are orchestrating a campaign to tarnish the party’s reputation. “We have uncovered a well-orchestrated, devious plan by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his party to discredit the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna today, Saturday, October 24, 2026,” he said.

The council claims that the ADC and its presidential candidate have devised strategies to misinform the public, manipulate opinion through misinformation tactics, and disseminate false news via mainstream outlets and social media. These plans reportedly involve the use of Artificial Intelligence, deepfake videos, and counterfeit documents, specifically aimed at the Kaduna rally and its attendees, including President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.

According to the APC-PCC, these activities commenced in the past 24 hours, starting with the release of an image depicting a security vehicle stationed near one of the party’s campaign billboards in Kaduna. The council contends that Abubakar and the ADC misrepresented this situation, claiming that the police presence was meant to protect the party’s billboards, subsequently spreading this narrative through a national newspaper known for its critical stance toward the government and the APC.

“Immediately after the newspaper published the distorted story, Atiku Abubakar shared it on his official social media accounts to generate traffic and trends,” the statement explained.

Additionally, the council described a separate incident involving a fabricated letter allegedly written by Governor Uba Sani, which claimed that the Kaduna State Government had allocated N2.3 trillion for the APC rally. The APC-PCC dismissed this claim as absurd, questioning how any party could conceive such a “senseless and utterly baseless lie.” They noted the annual budget of Kaduna State, which is significantly less than the figure cited.

“For context, the combined Kaduna State budgets for 2024, 2025, and 2026 total less than N2.3 trillion,” the statement added.

The council cautioned that these two incidents are indicative of a broader agenda. It alleged that the ADC and Abubakar’s associates plan to circulate doctored videos during the rally to create a false impression of public disdain.

“We urge Nigerians to remain vigilant and reject these deceptive tactics,” the APC-PCC concluded.
