LAGOS, Nigeria — Nigerian media personality Daddy Freeze has sparked conversation by asserting that individuals do not need to worship or serve God in order to achieve wealth. His remarks came during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday night, where he addressed comments made by TikTok star Peller at Pastor Tobi Adegboyega’s church in the United Kingdom.
Peller had shared his personal experience, stating that while others engaged in nighttime prayers, he was resting at home, yet he was still blessed with fortune. In response, Daddy Freeze highlighted a disconnect between religious devotion and financial success.
He emphasized that acknowledging God is not a prerequisite for achieving wealth, and questioned why many devout Christians struggle financially. “When you try to connect worshipping God to material possessions, you overlook the sacrifices made by biblical figures like Stephen,” he said. “If you believe that prayer alone leads to financial gain, you are misinformed.”
Daddy Freeze pointed out a broader issue, suggesting that the parents of many individuals prayed for prosperity but did not achieve wealth themselves. “As long as you attribute money to God, you will remain poor,” he stated. “God doesn’t give people money. If He did, the top 10 richest individuals in the world would all be devout Christians.”
Arguing that wealth is a result of creating value rather than religious belief, he added, “One can openly express disdain for God and still amass riches. You do not need to acknowledge God’s existence to become wealthy.”
