‘Safety of students, staff remains central’ — FG confirms unity colleges resume Monday

The Federal Government announced that all federal unity colleges across the country will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026.

The Federal Ministry of Education made the announcement in a statement released on Friday, September 11, through its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa stated that preparations are in place to ensure the safe return of students and staff as the new academic session commences. He noted that relevant security agencies have been notified of the resumption plans and will maintain increased vigilance around the colleges and their surrounding areas.

“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” Alausa said.

He urged parents and guardians to stay calm, rely on official information, and prepare their children for their return to college on Monday. Additionally, he instructed school authorities to coordinate with security agencies and other pertinent authorities to ensure a smooth resumption.

Alausa also called on students, parents, teachers, and school administrators to contribute to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment in the colleges.
