Olaiya Igwe clears air on health rumours, says viral video was movie scene

Nollywood actor Olaiya Igwe has addressed concerns regarding his health following the circulation of a viral video that led to speculation about his well-being.
The video, which surfaced online last week, depicted Igwe appearing weak and unwell, prompting fears among fans and social media users. In response to the reaction, Igwe clarified that the footage was filmed during a movie production and does not reflect his actual health status.
“I was portraying the role of a sick father in a film directed by Mr. Latin,” he explained. The actor noted that the realism of the scene was so convincing that many viewers mistakenly believed he was battling a serious illness.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account, Igwe expressed disappointment at individuals who seemed to revel in the false reports while also thanking those who reached out to check on him. “I have seen some people wishing me to die,” he said. “For those who are genuinely concerned, please relax. There is no problem.”
He further emphasized that he remains healthy, reiterating that the clip in question was part of the film project. “It went viral and brought concern from the public. Some understood that I was only acting, while others thought I was actually sick and checked up on me,” he added.
Igwe concluded by addressing his detractors, stating, “For those wishing me evil, evil will be their portion. I am okay, and there is nothing wrong with me.” His comments come amid rising concern among fans following the video’s release.
