NSCDC arrests suspected car thieves, robbers, recovers stolen vehicles, AK-47 in Abuja
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended several individuals suspected of engaging in various criminal activities, including car theft, armed robbery, cable vandalism, and the theft of agricultural infrastructure. The arrests took place within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and surrounding states.
The suspects were showcased at a press briefing at the NSCDC’s National Headquarters in Abuja. This action follows a series of intelligence-led operations executed by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad.
Among the arrested suspects is Adam Yusuf, identified by the NSCDC as a suspected member of a car-snatching ring operating across multiple states. According to the agency, Yusuf was apprehended under the Mpape Flyover while allegedly attempting to deliver a stolen Toyota Camry.
In addition to Yusuf’s arrest, the NSCDC reported the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, 16 rounds of ammunition, and cash amounting to 70,000 naira from suspects linked to an armed robbery incident. The suspects also include alleged cable vandals and an individual accused of stealing 15 tractor batteries.
The NSCDC stated that these arrests are part of its ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and enhance public safety.
Separately, the NSCDC announced the rescue of Micaiah Nana, the last of 16 children reportedly trafficked by an individual named Archibong Anderson. The rescue occurred in the Kwali Area Council of the FCT, where the alleged buyers have been taken into custody and are currently assisting with the investigation.
