Kebbi State Troops Raid Suspected Terrorist Hideouts
Troops from Sector 2 conducted a raid on suspected terrorist hideouts near Gumki in the Arewa Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State on September 14, 2026. The operation began in the early morning following intelligence reports about the location of potential terrorist camps.
According to security sources who spoke to security expert Zagazola Makama, the confrontation included a gun battle between the troops and the armed group. The terrorists, unable to withstand the troops’ assault, retreated towards the Nigeria-Niger border.
During the operation, the troops seized significant supplies, including one AK-47 rifle, a PKT machine-gun magazine, 187 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 PKT ammunition, and 14 rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm special ammunition. Additionally, they recovered four motorcycles, two mobile phones, combat kits, various charms, and a cash sum of ₦87,000.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to dismantle terrorist hideouts and restrict the movements of armed groups in communities near the Niger Republic border. The troops are also continuing clearance operations and surveillance in the region to prevent any resurgence of terrorist activity.
