Osun State Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of Local Man
Osogbo, Osun State — The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the shooting death of 36-year-old Adejuwon Adekunle, known locally as Asa, in what authorities suspect may be a cult-related attack. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning near a recreation center in the Dele Yes Sir community.
According to police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi, Adekunle was attacked shortly after 2 a.m. by unidentified assailants, who allegedly arrived in the area and began firing weapons indiscriminately. Witnesses reported that Adekunle was shot and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Details surrounding the attack remain unclear. Reports indicate that Adekunle may have been followed to the location by the assailants before the shooting took place between 1:30 and 2 a.m.
As of this report, the identities and whereabouts of the suspects are unknown. Ojelabi stated that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, has instructed that the case be referred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further examination. No arrests have been made thus far.
Preliminary findings suggest a possible connection to cult activities, and authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of Adekunle’s death and to identify those responsible.
