Harry Kane has hailed the 2025-26 season as the best of his career after achieving a remarkable total of 73 goals for Bayern Munich and the England national team. While his impressive performances position him as a frontrunner for the prestigious Ballon d’Or, Kane remains focused on team accomplishments rather than individual accolades.
The last English player to win the Ballon d’Or was Michael Owen in 2001. Kane enters this year’s competition facing formidable challengers, including Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé.
In a recent interview with Spanish publication Marca, Kane discussed his incredible season, stating, “I’ve never liked talking too much about myself. The only thing I’d say is that last season was incredible, both personally and for the team.” He emphasized his pride in achieving the highest goal tally since Lionel Messi’s record of 82 goals during the 2011-12 season but acknowledged that winning the Ballon d’Or is not solely within his control.
“I’m extremely proud of that … but the Ballon d’Or isn’t in my hands. It depends on the people who vote. As far as I’m concerned, last season is in the past,” Kane said. He expressed a desire to concentrate on the current season, eager to see what more he can achieve.
The winner of the Ballon d’Or will be announced during the official awards ceremony scheduled for October 26.
