Police arrest two suspects, recover tricycle, generator in Calabar
Cross River State Police have apprehended two suspects and recovered items believed to be stolen in separate incidents in Calabar South.
The arrests occurred on Tuesday, following tips from the community. The suspects have been identified as 22-year-old Testimony Ene and 18-year-old Promise Sunday Patrick.
According to police spokesman ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, Ene was arrested on Mayne Avenue while allegedly attempting to sell a tricycle, identified by the registration number AZA 504 QJ. Preliminary investigations suggest that Ene took the tricycle from Akwa Ibom State and transported it to Calabar for sale, police said. The tricycle has been secured as evidence, and efforts are underway to locate its rightful owner.
In a separate incident, Patrick was detained in the Nyawawo community on suspicion of possessing a yellow Fireman generator. Akata noted that Patrick informed investigators that the generator had been taken from a church on Nyawawo Street. The generator has also been recovered, and police are investigating its ownership and the circumstances of its removal.
Authorities stated that both suspects would face prosecution if investigations confirm their involvement in the incidents.
