Police seal suspected adulterated drinks factory in Lagos, arrest 48-year-old man
The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled a suspected illegal factory in Badagry allegedly engaged in the production and packaging of adulterated alcoholic beverages.
A 48-year-old man, identified as Anaebo Emeka Hilary, was arrested in connection with the operation at Yafin, Badagry. The police action was prompted by information from members of the public, leading to the raid on the facility, according to a statement released Thursday by police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi.
During the operation, officers recovered a range of items, including suspected adulterated alcoholic beverages, empty bottles, various wine labels, and equipment believed to be used for the manufacturing and packaging of the products.
In addition to sealing the facility, police have taken Hilary into custody for further questioning as the investigation continues. The recovered items have been moved to the police station for analysis.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai praised the officers for their prompt response to public tips and emphasized the importance of community vigilance. He reiterated the command’s commitment to conducting intelligence-led operations to combat criminal activities in the region and urged residents to provide timely and credible information regarding suspicious activities.
