Man arrested in Adamawa for allegedly stabbing wife
A 49-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife in Adamawa State. Balamau Lardi is accused of attacking 37-year-old Biyagwal Balamau in Kurnyi Tudu Village, located in the Guyuk Local Government Area.
The Adamawa State Police Command reported Thursday that the incident took place on Wednesday, September 23. Police officials were alerted to the situation, prompting officers from the Guyuk Divisional Police Headquarters to swiftly respond to the scene. They managed to rescue the victim and apprehend the suspect.
The police statement noted that Biyagwal Balamau sustained serious injuries to her left rib area. Following the attack, she was transported to a medical facility, where she underwent surgery and is currently receiving treatment.
Balamau Lardi remains in police custody while investigations continue. Adamawa State Commissioner of Police Kabir Umar Hassan condemned the alleged incident, categorizing it as a case of gender-based violence. He has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the State Criminal Investigation Department to handle the case and ensure thorough investigation and prosecution.
