Only God, Tinubu know what’ll happen in 2027 — Galadima

A prominent member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, stated that only God and President Bola Tinubu can predict the outcome of the 2027 presidential election. Galadima made these comments during an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Thursday.
He addressed the prospects of the NDC’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. “Only God and Tinubu know what will happen in this election,” Galadima said, alleging that there have been organized attacks on opposition parties.
Despite these challenges, Galadima expressed optimism about the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, asserting that they would secure victory if the election is conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner. “Peter Obi and Kwankwaso will win this election if it is free, fair, and credible, unless there is someone with machinery willing to take it away from them,” he added.
Galadima dismissed concerns about potential rifts within the NDC, emphasizing the unity among its key figures. “They are on the same page, they are close to each other, every minute, every hour, every day,” he said.
When asked about the ticket’s appeal in northern Nigeria, particularly in light of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s political influence, Galadima asserted that the NDC is presenting a candidate pair designed to resonate with voters nationwide. “We are running a single ticket of prominent, experienced Nigerians; this is our game,” he stated.
He characterized the Obi-Kwankwaso partnership as a “healing ticket,” claiming that both politicians complement each other well. “Obi and Kwankwaso complement each other in every move. That is why we call this ticket a healing ticket,” Galadima said.
Galadima also challenged the credibility of politicians who promise to restore the fuel subsidy, urging voters to consider their past positions on subsidy and petroleum sector reforms. “If someone tells you, ‘I will restore subsidy,’ will you just believe him without looking at his background?” he asked.
Furthermore, he criticized the Tinubu administration for what he referred to as ongoing subsidy-related expenditures, questioning the government’s characterization of these costs as “Energy Security Expenses.” “Obi and Kwankwaso are populist politicians devoted to the people; Tinubu put us in this trouble,” Galadima said. “Even the president pays subsidies under what he calls Energy Security Expenses; these should be explained. All these are fraud,” he concluded.
