Troops, police repel bandits’ attack in Benue community

Soldiers, Police Thwart Armed Assault in Benue State Village
Operatives of the Nigerian Army, in conjunction with local police, successfully repelled an armed bandit attack on Ankpali village in the Apa Local Government Area of Benue State early Wednesday morning.
According to sources, security agencies received an emergency alert around 2:45 a.m. that gunmen had invaded the community, prompting immediate action.
In response to the distress call, additional troops from the Nigerian Army and the 80 Police Mobile Force were dispatched to reinforce the initial responding team. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, ultimately forcing the attackers to retreat from the village. During the confrontation, one bandit was neutralized, and his remains were subsequently transported to a local mortuary.
Security officials confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the incident.
Residents of Ankpali expressed gratitude for the swift response from the security forces, stating that their intervention prevented further damage and potential loss of life and property.
