2027: APC’ll have no opposition in Ogun, says Yayi

By James Ogunnaike, Abeokuta
Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, stated that the party anticipates facing little to no opposition in the upcoming 2027 governorship election. He characterized the current opposition as “partyless” and struggling with internal conflicts.
Adeola made his comments during an APC Interfaith Prayer and Praise Concert at the Ake Palace Grounds in Abeokuta, where he expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious without significant competition.
He indicated that the party’s expected success would begin with the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027, and extend to the governorship and National Assembly elections in Ogun State.
“There will be nobody contesting against us,” Adeola claimed, asserting that the opposition is engaged in attempts to rectify internal issues. “God has spoken that He is going to give us victory without a fight.”
He further affirmed, “That same God that will grant us victory on January 16 will also support my bid to become the 17th Executive Governor of Ogun State.”
Additionally, Adeola expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances of reelection and predicted success for APC candidates seeking seats in the National Assembly from Ogun State. He urged party members to remain dedicated to political activities, emphasizing that the prayers offered at the event would contribute to the APC’s success.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun also addressed the gathering, framing the event as a moment for APC members to seek divine guidance for their political aspirations ahead of the 2027 elections. He articulated hope that their prayers and thanksgiving would yield positive outcomes.
Reflecting on his political journey, Abiodun noted the difficulties surrounding the 2019 gubernatorial election, describing his victory as evidence of divine assistance. He expressed faith that the same divine support would facilitate a smooth transition in the upcoming elections.
“We have come here to put God first,” Abiodun said. “I am very confident that our desires will be granted through the prayers of the men of God.”
Pastor Johnson Kalejaiye, the Regional Evangelist of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, urged political parties and their supporters to avoid campaigns of hatred and misinformation that could incite violence during the electoral process. He called for divine intervention in the run-up to the elections and prayed for the APC’s success.
The interfaith gathering included both Christian and Muslim clerics, who offered prayers for the APC and its candidates. Among the attendees were former Ogun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba, Minister of Livestock Development Idi Mukhta Maiha, Ogun State APC Chairman Chief Yemisi Sanusi, and Senator Lekan Mustapha, Director-General of the APC Campaign Council in Ogun State.
