Wike orders demolition of illegal beer parlours in Abuja

FCT Minister Orders Dismantling of Unauthorized Beer Parlors in Asokoro
Abuja — Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has instructed security agencies and the Department of Development Control to dismantle unauthorized beer parlors in the Asokoro area. This directive comes in response to recent security intelligence regarding these establishments.
Wike issued the order following a high-level security meeting with the FCT Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Friday in Abuja. He emphasized the need for proactive measures to prevent potential criminal activities that could arise from the illegal operations.
“There are security threats emerging in Asokoro related to individuals attempting to establish unauthorized beer parlors,” Wike said. “We will not allow that. There is no such approval, and we will not permit it.”
To ensure compliance with the order, Wike has tasked the Department of Development Control, in collaboration with security agencies, to begin immediate clearance of the affected areas. He reiterated the importance of acting swiftly to prevent any escalation of security issues.
“We have directed Development Control, along with security agencies, to take action before we begin to have security problems,” he stated.
Wike added that informing the public of this decision was crucial to demonstrate the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the nation’s capital.
