Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai Appears in Court for Fraud Case
KADUNA, Nigeria — Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai arrived at the Kaduna State High Court on Tuesday for the continuation of proceedings in his alleged fraud case.
Video footage shared on X showed El-Rufai greeting Isa Kudan, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, before entering the courtroom.
Tuesday’s hearings are part of ongoing legal challenges concerning El-Rufai’s detention. The former governor has faced difficulties securing bail in this case and is also dealing with issues related to a medical report submitted to support his release request.
Justice Darius Khobo has scheduled the next hearing for noon, instructing the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which holds custody of El-Rufai, to ensure his presence in court.
El-Rufai is facing charges of corruption, financial fraud, abuse of office, and money laundering, as brought forth by the ICPC.
