Senate passes bill to establish Federal College of Agriculture in Borno

The Senate approved a bill during its third reading on Thursday, following a review by the Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions.
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents the Borno South Senatorial District, is the sponsor of the legislation. He emphasized that the establishment of the proposed institution is intended to enhance agricultural education and improve farming practices both locally and nationwide.
“Shani, located in Borno South, is recognized for its production of rice, tomatoes, and onions. The region also borders Adamawa and Bauchi states, which are significant agricultural areas,” Ndume noted.
He characterized the bill’s passage as a significant milestone, especially as the current legislative session nears its conclusion.
