Cooperation among ethnic groups would strengthen collective voice – Nyame

Former Taraba State Governor Rev. Jolly Nyame urged the Yandang, Mumuye, and other ethnic groups within Yorro Local Government Area to unite in their pursuit of shared political goals and sustainable development.
Speaking Saturday in Jalingo at a summit organized with the Timusang Development Association (TDA), Nyame cautioned that ongoing disunity among communities could result in missed political opportunities and hinder development efforts. The summit was themed “The Yandang Man in the 21st Century: Challenges and Prospects.”
“Unity is essential to achieving meaningful progress,” Nyame stated. “I, therefore, call on the various communities to set aside their differences and work together toward shared goals.”
He emphasized that increased cooperation among ethnic groups would amplify their collective voice in political matters and pave the way for social and economic advancement. Nyame also announced plans for a joint Mumuye-Yandang summit in December to discuss political participation, common interests, and strategies for community development.
Evangelist Aminu Oliver Zakariya, chairman of the TDA, described the summit as a strategic initiative aimed at uniting Yandang individuals from Taraba and neighboring Adamawa State. He noted that such engagements are crucial for fostering unity and nurturing a collective vision for the future of the Yandang people.
Pastor Haniel Banti Adamu Bashiru, Wazirin Kpan Sanwi and Paramount Leader of the Yandang Nation, echoing Nyame’s sentiments, called for increased unity among the people, highlighting the significance of collective action in overcoming challenges.
Additionally, elder statesman Dr. Kobiba Alfred urged the youth to embrace discipline, uphold traditional values, and meaningfully contribute to their communities’ development.
In his presentation, Professor James Hamuel Doughari championed a coordinated development strategy to promote the social, political, and economic interests of the Yandang Nation. He proposed a seven-point development plan aimed at addressing community challenges and fostering sustainable growth.
