Nigerian Singer Rema Sets New Record on Billboard Chart
Nigerian artist Rema’s debut album, Rave & Roses, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the longest-charting African album on the Billboard World Albums Chart, remaining on the list for 170 weeks.
Rave & Roses surpassed the previous record of 164 weeks, held by Wizkid’s Made In Lagos, which was set last year. Other notable African albums in the top rankings include Tems’ Born In The Wild at 79 weeks, Burna Boy’s Love, Damini at 63 weeks, and the classic The Best of The Black President by Fela Kuti at 45 weeks.
In related news, Rema made his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with the track “Secondhand,” featuring Don Toliver, debuting at number 29. Tems also entered the Hot 100 with her new song “What You Need,” bringing her total to seven Hot 100 entries, a record she shares with Burna Boy and the South African group Seether.
