NPFL: Early favourites emerge in golden boot race

Abia Warriors striker Emeka Obioma has established himself as a leading contender for the Golden Boot award in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Obioma, who was the NPFL’s top scorer during the 2022/23 season, has already found the net six times in nine league matches for the Umuahia-based club this season. Last season, he scored 16 goals to help his former team, Enyimba, secure the championship title. He also ranked among the league’s top scorers in the previous season, netting 11 goals while playing for Abia Warriors.
Currently trailing Obioma are Ranchers Bees’ Mohammed Zulkifilu and Doma United’s Sadiq Rilwan, both of whom have scored five goals each. Meanwhile, Barau FC players Joseph Atule and Sugau Aliyu, along with Kayode Oke of Bendel Insurance, have each contributed four goals to their teams.
