NDC to unveil campaign council, present financial statement at NEC meeting

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will unveil its National Campaign Council and present its financial statement during its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Monday, October 26, in Abuja, the party announced.

According to a statement from Osa Director, Esq., the NDC National Publicity Secretary, the financial presentation aims to underscore the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability. The party has urged other political entities, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to disclose their financial details as well.

The NEC meeting is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. at the JD Event Centre, located on Kashim Ibrahim Way in the Maitama area of Abuja. A key feature of the agenda will be the National Treasurer’s presentation of the party’s Statement of Account.

The NDC called on the APC and other political parties to embrace similar transparency in financial management. “We challenge other political parties, especially the ruling APC, to emulate this level of openness and transparency,” the statement read.

The party also addressed concerns regarding its financial standing, noting that many candidates struggled to pay for nomination forms due to the economic hardships currently facing the country. The NDC claimed that about 80 percent of its candidates could not afford the expression of interest forms, which the party subsequently issued free of charge to those affected.

In addition to unveiling the National Campaign Council, which will oversee campaigns for the presidential, National Assembly, governorship, and state Houses of Assembly elections, the NDC will also distribute certificates of return to its candidates.

Positioning itself for the upcoming 2027 general election, the NDC expressed its resolve to provide what it describes as altruistic leadership to the Nigerian populace.
