Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB announces APC boycott, orders members to shun party

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has intensified its criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of perpetuating an anti-Biafra agenda. In a recent statement, IPOB spokesman Nwaogu condemned any Biafran or Igbo individual who supports the APC, labeling them as adversaries to their communities.
Nwaogu cited incidents during the regime’s Operation Python Dance, asserting that it fostered insecurity and led to the unjust imprisonment of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu. He alleged that the authorities have committed human rights violations, including detaining individuals without legal justification and criminalizing peaceful expressions of Biafran identity.
“The primary focus of this Directorate remains absolute and unshakeable: the immediate, unconditional release of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the full restoration of Biafra. Every other matter is secondary,” Nwaogu said, emphasizing the IPOB’s commitment to Kanu’s release.
Nwaogu further accused the Nigerian government of undermining judicial processes to maintain Kanu’s unlawful detention. He pointed to the recent disappearance of crucial court documents as a tactic to evade accountability. During a hearing regarding Kanu’s detention, the judge reportedly stated that the court file was “missing,” raising concerns about the transparency of the legal proceedings.
In a separate issue, Nwaogu mentioned that Kanu’s legal team is awaiting a hearing for an appeal against his conviction, which he described as flawed. Despite having filed necessary documents, the Court of Appeal has not yet listed the case for consideration.
He asserted that a government that obscures court files and avoids engagement with the appellate court has lost its legal and moral credibility. “Show us the law, list the appeal, and hear it in open court,” he stated.
Nwaogu also dismissed claims regarding the potential resumption of a weekly sit-at-home order in the South-East, attributing these reports to the APC’s efforts to create social unrest. He clarified that the IPOB has not authorized any such enforcement, calling on community members to resist any unapproved sit-at-home measures.
In his remarks about the political landscape, Nwaogu accused the APC of relying on local leaders to mislead the South-East populace. He cited recent incidents involving political figures from the region, indicating a pattern of humiliation faced by those who align with the APC.
“The public humiliations suffered by these actors… demonstrate their complete lack of honor,” he said, foreseeing a similar fate for other leaders who might compromise their integrity.
Nwaogu concluded by announcing that the IPOB legal team has identified 68 individuals believed to be unjustly detained in various prisons. “Our lawyers are working tirelessly to secure their freedom,” he stated.
