MALAM MADORI, Jigawa State — The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended a 24-year-old man identified as Saleh Muhammad, suspected of motorcycle theft. Two stolen motorcycles were recovered during the operation in Malam Madori and Shuwarin towns, according to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer SP Lawan Shisu Adam.
The arrest followed a report regarding a stolen red Boxer motorcycle in Malam Madori on October 19, 2026, around 5 a.m. Authorities initiated an investigation that led to Muhammad’s capture at Kashin Dila Junction.
Shisu confirmed that the stolen motorcycle was retrieved from the suspect, who has since been arraigned in court.
In a related incident, police officers from the Shuwarin Division discovered an abandoned red Hunter motorcycle without registration in Gwazaye village, Kiyawa Local Government Area, also on October 19, 2026. This motorcycle has been taken to the police station for further investigation.
On October 21, 2026, a 32-year-old man from Tunubu village reported to the Shuwarin Police Division, claiming ownership of the recovered motorcycle. He stated that unknown individuals had stolen the bike from his home while he was asleep on October 18, 2026.
Following a verification process, authorities confirmed that the bike’s chassis and engine numbers matched the ownership documents provided by the claimant. As a result, the motorcycle was released to its rightful owner on bond. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the theft.
