Xabi Alonso confirm major injury blow ahead of Liverpool, Man Utd matches

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso announced Thursday that forward Joao Pedro will be sidelined for several weeks due to a thigh injury.

Alonso made the announcement during a pre-match press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool. Pedro was also absent during Chelsea’s recent 2-0 Premier League loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

In addition to missing the upcoming match against Liverpool, Pedro is not expected to recover in time for Chelsea’s league fixture against Manchester United. “João has suffered a thigh injury; he won’t be available for a few weeks,” Alonso said.
