2027: Emulate Brazil, vote Labour – LP tells Nigerians

Labour Party Urges Nigerians to Vote for Change in 2027 Elections

The Labour Party (LP) has called on Nigerians to follow the example of Brazil by supporting its candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The appeal follows the re-election of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who secured an unprecedented fourth term leading the South American nation.

In a statement released on Friday, the LP congratulated Lula, a member of the leftist Workers’ Party (PT), on his victory, noting the ideological similarities between the Brazilian party and the Labour Party.

Ken Eluma Asogwa, the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, emphasized the shared political philosophy rooted in social democracy, which he believes connects the two parties. “Our shared beliefs and political philosophy have continued to bring our paths together in many respects,” Asogwa stated.

He described Lula’s re-election as a strong endorsement from the Brazilian populace for a government founded on social democratic principles. Asogwa added that the Labour Party aims to inspire Nigerians by drawing lessons from Brazil’s electoral success as the country approaches its own elections.

Highlighting the party’s achievements, Asogwa cited Abia State as an example of the Labour Party’s capability. Under Governor Alex Otti, he said, the LP has demonstrated a commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of Nigerians.

“Our political heritage, firmly rooted in social democracy, offers an opportunity to prioritize the welfare of the people, social justice, economic inclusion, and equitable development,” he remarked.

Asogwa voiced confidence that the Labour Party could lead Nigeria toward a better future if given the opportunity at all levels of government, including the presidency. He urged voters to place their trust in the LP and its vision for the nation.

“Just as the Brazilian experience shows, the power of the people can shape their political destiny through the ballot. We believe this is also possible in Nigeria, as people power is greater than political power,” he asserted.
