Katsina govt denies link between Yankara Maulud incident, Radda’s rally

KATSINA, Nigeria — The Katsina State Government has refuted claims linking a recent incident during a Maulud procession in Yankara, located in the Faskari Local Government Area, to the campaign rally of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

In a statement released on Saturday, October 31, 2026, and signed by Chief Press Secretary Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the government clarified that preliminary reports indicate the incident stemmed from a dispute between procession participants and security personnel regarding the designated route.

“The incident had no connection with the governor’s campaign activities or the Tinubu-Dikko campaign rally in Faskari,” the statement emphasized.

The governor reportedly traveled through Yankara without incident on his way to Faskari, where he visited the District Head’s Palace and inspected ongoing renovations at the local government secretariat. Radda subsequently attended the campaign rally and engaged with residents and supporters.

The government has requested that security agencies conduct a thorough investigation to determine the facts of the incident. Additionally, officials urged media organizations and social media users to verify information before dissemination to prevent misunderstandings and unnecessary tension.
