Kano Assembly confirms former speaker, governor’s spokesperson as commissioners

The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of Balarabe Sa’idu Gani, a former Speaker, and Sunusi Ahmad Bature Dawakin Tofa, the spokesperson for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, as commissioners.

Their confirmations came after a screening process during a plenary session on Tuesday led by Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore. Governor Yusuf submitted their names to the Assembly to fill vacancies in the Ministries of Information and Solid Minerals.

Following his screening, Bature outlined his priorities for the Ministry of Information, stating he aims to revitalize state-owned media organizations. He said, “My priority will be to revive the operations of Kano Radio, expand the number of channels operated by ARTV, and provide adequate manpower and equipment to enable Triumph Newspaper to resume daily publication.” He emphasized that strengthening these media outlets would enhance their ability to serve the people of Kano State.

Speaker Falgore congratulated Gani on receiving both the governor’s endorsement and the Assembly’s confirmation. He expressed confidence in the abilities of the newly appointed commissioners as they prepare to take on their roles.
