NPFL acknowledges Bendel Insurance protest in Rangers’ clash

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has acknowledged a protest filed by Bendel Insurance regarding a disputed goal scored by Rangers in a rescheduled matchday 9 fixture.

In a brief statement posted on its X account Friday, the league confirmed it received the complaint. Bendel Insurance contended that Rangers’ winning goal was improperly awarded because the goalpost’s crossbar was displaced at the time of the score, asserting that the play should have been halted.

Following a review of video evidence, the NPFL concurred with Bendel Insurance’s concerns. However, the league has referred the matter to the Nigeria Football Federation Referees Appointment Committee for further evaluation.
