Woman gives birth inside Lagos Danfo bus during journey

Passengers on a commercial bus, commonly known as Danfo, experienced a surprising turn of events when a pregnant woman went into labor during the journey and gave birth to a baby boy inside the vehicle.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that the woman was traveling across the state when she suddenly went into labor. Fellow passengers and bystanders quickly came to her aid, assisting with the delivery and offering prayers for a safe birth.
The woman successfully delivered a healthy boy, and medical responders, along with other commuters, provided additional support to ensure the well-being of both mother and child.
Footage of the incident has circulated on social media, with some witnesses suggesting the newborn be named Abiona, a Yoruba name often given to children born during travel.
This incident follows a similar one at Onipanu Bus Stop on Ikorodu Road, where another pregnant woman also gave birth to a boy before being transported to a medical facility.
Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, recounted the earlier situation, noting that emergency responders arrived promptly after being alerted about a pregnant woman in labor while waiting for transportation.
“In a swift response, LASEMA arrived at the scene to assist the woman. She delivered a healthy baby boy, and both mother and child were stabilized by LASEMA paramedics before being taken to a nearby healthcare facility for post-natal care,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
