Alleged N33.8bn fraud: Mamman’s trial stalled as defence fails to produce witness

Trial of Former Minister Saleh Mamman Delayed Due to Missing Witness

The trial of Saleh Mamman, the former Minister of Power, was postponed on Monday in the Federal High Court in Abuja after the defense team failed to produce a crucial witness.

During the proceedings, Mamman’s attorney, Femi Atteh, SAN, informed Justice James Omotosho that the witness could not be subpoenaed due to their absence from the office. Atteh requested additional time to secure the witness’s presence for the following court date.

As a result, Justice Omotosho adjourned the case until February 26, 2026, when Mamman is expected to begin his defense.

Mamman is facing charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 12 counts, including conspiracy to commit money laundering involving N33.8 billion.
