BREAKING: Judge withdraws from El-Rufai’s fundamental rights suit

Justice Withdraws from El-Rufai’s Human Rights Case
Justice Hussaini Belgore of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has withdrawn from presiding over a fundamental human rights enforcement suit involving former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. The withdrawal was attributed to Justice Belgore’s upcoming leave.
Following this development, the case file has been returned to the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court for reassignment to another judge.
El-Rufai’s suit, filed in the FCT High Court, alleges violations of his fundamental rights, citing actions taken by several agencies, including the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The former governor contends that his Abuja residence was invaded and that other bodies, such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS), are involved in ongoing legal matters against him.
As a result of Justice Belgore’s withdrawal, proceedings in the case are currently on hold pending reassignment by the Chief Judge.
